Ingredients
For the Turkey Ham:
- 1 (8-10 lb) spiral-sliced turkey ham
- ½ cup water (for baking dish)
For the Apple Cider Glaze:
- 1 cup apple cider
- ½ cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground cloves
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Place the spiral turkey ham in a roasting pan or baking dish. Pour ½ cup of water into the bottom of the dish to help keep the ham moist while baking. Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine apple cider, brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted. Set aside.
Place the covered turkey ham in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour. This allows the ham to warm through before applying the glaze.
After 1 hour, remove the ham from the oven and uncover it. Using a basting brush, generously coat the ham with the apple cider glaze, making sure to get in between the spiral slices for maximum flavor.
Return the ham to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Every 10 minutes, baste the ham with more glaze to create a deep, caramelized coating.
For a more caramelized finish, turn the oven to broil for the last 3-5 minutes. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute, keeping the ham moist and flavorful. Serve warm with extra glaze drizzled on top.
