Turkey Sausage Balls

  • Author: Luna
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 24 sausage balls 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey sausage
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup whole wheat or all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for spice)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (optional, for moisture)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, oregano, and cayenne (if using).

  2. Use your hands or a wooden spoon to mix everything together until well combined. If the mixture feels too dry, add 1–2 tablespoons of milk to help bind the ingredients.

Step 3: Form the Sausage Balls

  1. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Repeat with the remaining mixture, placing the sausage balls about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4: Bake to Perfection

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C)).

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Let the sausage balls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm with your favorite dipping sauce, like honey mustard, ranch, or a spicy sriracha mayo.
