– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 large onion, diced
– 4 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons chili powder
– 1 tablespoon ground cumin
– 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon black pepper
– 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
– 2 cups beef broth
– 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– 1-2 fresh jalapeños, diced (optional for heat)
– Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Follow these simple steps to create your amazing Texas Chili:
1. Heat Oil: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
2. Brown the Beef: Add the beef cubes to the pot. Brown the meat on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
3. Sauté Onions and Garlic: In the same pot, add the diced onion. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
4. Add Spices: Stir in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
5. Combine Ingredients: Return the browned beef to the pot. Add the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
6. Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beef is tender.
7. Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you prefer more heat, add diced jalapeños at this stage.
8. Serve: Once the chili is cooked to your liking, remove it from the heat. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
