Base Ingredients:
- 36 frozen tater tots (about 3 per cup)
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup cooked and crumbled turkey or beef bacon
- ¼ cup sour cream (for topping)
- 2 tbsp chopped chives or green onions (for garnish)
Optional Fillings (Choose Your Favorite!):
- Buffalo Chicken: ½ cup shredded chicken + 2 tbsp buffalo sauce + ¼ cup ranch dressing
- Tex-Mex: ½ cup seasoned ground beef + ¼ cup salsa + ¼ cup shredded Mexican cheese
- Loaded Baked Potato Style: ¼ cup sour cream + extra cheese + crispy bacon bits
- BBQ Chicken: ½ cup shredded BBQ chicken + 2 tbsp BBQ sauce + pickled jalapeños
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin to prevent sticking.
Place 3 frozen tater tots into each muffin cup. Bake for 10 minutes to soften them slightly.
Using a spoon or small cup, press down on the softened tater tots to form a cup shape. This creates space for the fillings.
Return the muffin tin to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle shredded cheese over each cup. Add your chosen toppings, such as bacon bits, shredded chicken, or taco meat.
Return to the oven for 3-5 more minutes, just until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from the oven and let them cool for 2 minutes before removing them from the tin.
Top with a dollop of sour cream and fresh chives. Serve warm and enjoy these crispy, cheesy bites!
