Ingredients
- 1 cup Nutella
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, dark, or white chocolate, depending on preference)
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable oil (for smooth melting)
- Optional toppings: Crushed hazelnuts, sprinkles, white chocolate drizzle
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the Nutella, softened butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spatula to mix until smooth and well blended. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until a thick, dough-like consistency forms. If the mixture is too soft to handle, place it in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes to firm up slightly.
Once the filling is firm enough to handle, scoop out small portions (about a tablespoon each) and roll them into oval or egg shapes. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. If needed, use your fingers to gently shape them into eggs. Transfer the tray to the freezer for 15–20 minutes to set.
While the eggs are chilling, melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate using a double boiler on the stovetop.
Remove the Nutella eggs from the freezer. Using a fork or a dipping tool, carefully dip each egg into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Let any excess chocolate drip off before placing the coated egg back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle crushed hazelnuts, sprinkles, or drizzle with melted white chocolate for decoration. Allow the eggs to set at room temperature or place them in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
Once set, your Nutella Cream Eggs are ready to be enjoyed! Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
