- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
Instructions
Rinse the green beans and trim off the ends. Pat them dry to remove excess moisture, which helps them cook evenly.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
Add the green beans to the skillet and toss them in the garlic-infused oil. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Cook the green beans for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender-crisp and slightly blistered. If you prefer softer beans, cover the pan for the last 2 minutes to allow them to steam slightly.
Once the green beans are cooked to your liking, remove them from heat and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top. Toss well to coat. If desired, squeeze a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice for added brightness.
Transfer the green beans to a serving dish and enjoy them hot!
