  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: Makes 6 flatbreads 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup plain yogurt (or milk)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the yogurt and olive oil, then mix until a rough dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes until soft and smooth.
  4. Cover with a towel and let it rest for 5-10 minutes while you prepare the garlic butter.

Step 2: Prepare the Garlic Butter

  1. In a small pan, melt the butter over low heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley. Set aside.

Step 3: Roll and Cook the Flatbreads

  1. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each one into a thin circle (about 6 inches wide).
  2. Heat a dry skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  3. Cook each flatbread for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown spots appear.

Step 4: Brush with Garlic Butter and Serve

  1. While still warm, brush the flatbreads with garlic butter.
  2. Serve immediately with dips, curries, or as a side dish.
