For the Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup plain yogurt (or milk)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Garlic Butter Topping:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the yogurt and olive oil, then mix until a rough dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes until soft and smooth.
- Cover with a towel and let it rest for 5-10 minutes while you prepare the garlic butter.
Step 2: Prepare the Garlic Butter
- In a small pan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley. Set aside.
Step 3: Roll and Cook the Flatbreads
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each one into a thin circle (about 6 inches wide).
- Heat a dry skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Cook each flatbread for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown spots appear.
Step 4: Brush with Garlic Butter and Serve
- While still warm, brush the flatbreads with garlic butter.
- Serve immediately with dips, curries, or as a side dish.
