Ingredients
– 1 pound fresh mushrooms (button or cremini)
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– 1 teaspoon paprika
– ½ teaspoon salt
– ½ teaspoon black pepper
– 2 large eggs
– 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
– Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
Follow these steps to create delicious fried mushrooms:
1. Prepare the Mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp cloth. Remove the stems if desired, and set aside.
2. Set Up Breading Station: In one bowl, place the flour mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In a second bowl, whisk the eggs. In a third bowl, add the breadcrumbs.
3. Coat the Mushrooms: Dredge each mushroom in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.
4. Dip in Egg: Next, dip the flour-coated mushroom into the egg, allowing any excess to drip off.
5. Coat with Breadcrumbs: Finally, roll the mushroom in the breadcrumbs until it’s fully covered. Repeat this process for all the mushrooms.
6. Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat about 1-2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
7. Fry the Mushrooms: Once the oil is hot (around 350°F or 175°C), carefully add a few mushrooms to the oil. Be cautious not to overcrowd the pan.
8. Cook Until Golden: Fry the mushrooms for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to flip them halfway through for even cooking.
9. Drain Excess Oil: Once cooked, remove the mushrooms from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
10. Serve Warm: Enjoy your fried mushrooms while they are hot and crispy.
