Fried Cheese-Stuffed Doritos

  • Author: Luna
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 12 cheese bites 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cheese Filling:

  • 12 cheese sticks (mozzarella, cheddar, or pepper jack)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (for dusting)

For the Doritos Coating:

  • 2 cups Doritos (any flavor)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk

For Frying:

  • Oil for deep frying (vegetable or canola)

For Garnish & Dipping (Optional):

  • Chopped parsley or green onions
  • Ranch dressing, marinara sauce, or spicy mayo

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cheese

  1. Cut the cheese sticks in half for smaller bites or leave them whole for extra cheesiness.
  2. Lightly coat the cheese sticks in cornstarch—this helps the batter stick.

Step 2: Make the Doritos Coating

  1. Place Doritos in a food processor and pulse until they become fine crumbs. (Or crush them in a ziplock bag using a rolling pin.)
  2. Set up a breading station:
    • Bowl 1: Flour
    • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs + milk
    • Bowl 3: Crushed Doritos

Step 3: Coat the Cheese Sticks

  1. Dip each cheese stick into the flour, coating evenly.
  2. Dip into the egg mixture, ensuring full coverage.
  3. Roll in the crushed Doritos, pressing lightly so the coating sticks.
  4. Double dip! Repeat the egg and Doritos steps for an extra crunchy layer.

Step 4: Freeze the Coated Cheese Sticks

  1. Place the coated cheese sticks on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 10 minutes.
    • This step prevents the cheese from melting too fast when frying.

Step 5: Fry Until Golden

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry in small batches for 1–2 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown.
  3. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Step 6: Serve & Enjoy!

  • Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions.
  • Serve hot with ranch, marinara, or spicy mayo.
