Ingredients
– 250g rolled oats
– 125g unsalted butter
– 125g brown sugar
– 125g golden syrup (or honey)
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Pinch of salt
– Optional: 100g chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruits
Instructions
Creating your flapjack is straightforward. Just follow these simple steps:
1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking dish (approximately 20cm x 20cm) with baking parchment for easy removal.
2. Melt Ingredients: In a saucepan over low heat, combine the unsalted butter, brown sugar, and golden syrup. Stir until fully melted and combined.
3. Combine Oats: Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the rolled oats, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until everything is well mixed. If adding chocolate chips or nuts, fold them in now.
4. Pour Mixture: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly and press it down firmly with the back of a spatula.
5. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Keep an eye on them as they can burn easily!
6. Cool: Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool in the tin for about 10-15 minutes. After that, lift the block out using the parchment paper and allow it to cool on a wire rack before cutting into bars.
7. Cut and Serve: Finally, cut your flapjack into squares or rectangles and enjoy!
