Ingredients
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon cotton candy extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 3–4 drops pink food coloring
- 3–4 drops blue food coloring
- Optional: pastel sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This takes about 2 minutes with an electric mixer and helps create a soft cookie texture.
Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and cotton candy extract. Beat until everything is fully combined and smooth.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Split the cookie dough into two equal portions. Add a few drops of pink food coloring to one half and blue food coloring to the other. Mix until the colors are evenly distributed.
Take small pieces of each colored dough and gently press them together. Lightly knead to create a marbled effect, being careful not to overmix so the colors remain distinct.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. This helps the cookies hold their shape while baking.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them about 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
If desired, sprinkle the cookies with pastel sprinkles while they’re still slightly warm. Let them cool completely before serving. Enjoy!
