- 20 fresh mozzarella balls (ciliegine or bocconcini size)
- 20 fresh basil leaves (plus extra for garnish)
- 20 small wooden skewers or cocktail picks
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For Drizzle & Garnish
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze or reduction
- Optional: Crushed red pepper flakes or Italian seasoning
- Optional: Fresh arugula or microgreens for serving base
Instructions
1. Prepare the Ingredients
- Rinse cherry tomatoes and pat dry.
- Drain mozzarella balls and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Wash and gently pat basil leaves dry.
2. Assemble the Skewers
- Take a skewer or toothpick and thread on a cherry tomato, followed by a basil leaf (folded in half if large), then a mozzarella ball.
- Repeat for all skewers, alternating the order as desired for visual variety.
- Optional: Double up ingredients for longer skewers—e.g., tomato, basil, cheese, tomato again.
3. Season and Drizzle
- Arrange skewers on a serving platter.
- Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze.
- Sprinkle with salt, freshly cracked black pepper, and optional seasonings for added flavor.
4. Garnish and Serve
- Garnish the platter with extra basil, arugula, or microgreens.
- Serve immediately, or chill briefly before serving for an extra-refreshing appetizer.
