Ingredients
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix (or vanilla cake mix)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking powder (optional, for extra fluffiness)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Pour the cake mix into the wet mixture, along with the salt and baking powder (if using). Stir until a thick dough forms. It will be slightly sticky but manageable.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Transfer the dough into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula or your hands to press it evenly into the pan.
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing them into squares or rectangles. This helps them set and makes them easier to cut.
Enjoy the bars warm for a gooey texture or at room temperature for a firmer bite.
