Blueberry Sweet Rolls: An Amazing Ultimate Recipe

  • Author: Luna
  • Total Time: 35 minute

Ingredients

– 4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 cup whole milk
– 1/4 cup water
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 2 large eggs
– 2 cups fresh blueberries (you can also use frozen, thawed blueberries)
– 1 tablespoon lemon juice
– 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for icing, optional)
– 1 tablespoon milk (for icing, optional)
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing, optional)

Instructions

Creating your Blueberry Sweet Rolls is straightforward. Follow these steps for the best results:

1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, water, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt until well combined.
3. Combine Ingredients: Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the dry ingredients, along with melted butter and eggs.
4. Knead the Dough: Mix until a dough forms, then transfer to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
6. Prepare Filling: In a small bowl, toss the blueberries with lemon juice and set aside.
7. Roll the Dough: Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Roll it into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
8. Add Blueberries: Evenly distribute the blueberries across the rolled dough.
9. Form the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log, sealing the edges.
10. Slice the Rolls: Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish, cut side up.
11. Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
12. Preheat Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
13. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
14. Cool: Remove from the oven and let cool for 10-15 minutes.
15. Optional Icing: If desired, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make an icing. Drizzle over the warm rolls.
