Wisconsin Butter Burgers

  • Author: Luna
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Burger Patties

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

For the Butter Topping

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

For the Buns

  • 4 brioche or hamburger buns
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for toasting)

Toppings (Optional)

  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • ½ cup caramelized onions
  • Pickles, lettuce, or ketchup (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Butter Mixture

In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with Worcestershire sauce until smooth. Set aside for later use.

2. Shape the Burger Patties

Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and gently form them into loose patties, about ½ inch thick. Avoid overworking the meat to keep the burgers tender. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

3. Toast the Buns

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Spread butter on the inside of each bun and toast them until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

4. Cook the Burger Patties

Increase the heat to medium-high. Place the patties in the hot skillet and use a spatula to smash them down slightly. Cook for 2–3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes. If using cheese, add it in the last 30 seconds to melt.

5. Assemble the Butter Burgers

Spread a generous pat of the butter mixture over the top of each cooked patty. Place the burgers on the toasted buns, add your favorite toppings, and serve immediately.
