- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
For the Pasta & Vegetables:
- 12 oz penne or fettuccine pasta
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp butter
For the Sauce:
- 1 cup beef broth
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
For Garnish:
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Steak
- In a medium bowl, combine the steak slices with soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to coat the steak evenly. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.
Step 2: Cook the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside, reserving about ½ cup of pasta water.
Step 3: Sear the Steak
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated steak in a single layer. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
Step 4: Sauté the Vegetables
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the sliced onions. Cook for 2 minutes until softened, then add the minced garlic and bell peppers. Sauté for another 4-5 minutes until the peppers are slightly tender but still have a bit of crunch.
Step 5: Prepare the Sauce
- Pour in the beef broth and tomato sauce, stirring well to deglaze the pan. Add the soy sauce and red pepper flakes (if using). If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with a tablespoon of water and stir it into the skillet. Let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
Step 6: Combine Everything
- Return the cooked steak to the skillet and mix well with the vegetables and sauce. Add the drained pasta and toss to coat everything evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up.
Step 7: Garnish and Serve
- Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle fresh parsley on top. Serve hot with freshly grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
