Ingredients
- 6 hot dog buns
- 6 beef hot dogs
- 2 cups prepared chili (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional for extra cheesiness)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
Place the hot dog buns in the baking dish, arranging them close together. This helps keep them soft while baking.
Add one hot dog to each bun, nestling them inside.
Spoon the chili evenly over the hot dogs, covering them generously. The chili will infuse the hot dogs with deep, savory flavor.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the chili-covered hot dogs. Make sure to coat them evenly for maximum cheesiness.
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the tops of the buns with the seasoned butter mixture. This adds extra flavor and gives them a slight golden crisp.
Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley for a pop of color (optional). Serve immediately while hot and gooey.
