Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon orange extract (optional)
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy. This helps create a soft cookie texture.
Mix in the egg, orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract, and optional orange extract. Beat until smooth and well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cookies dense.
Gently stir in the white chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly undercooked, but they will firm up as they cool.
Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy warm or store for later!
